Who started wearing t-shirts and how did they become so cool? It all started in the early 1900’s during WWI. U.S. soldiers realized the Europeans had comfortable looking cotton shirts on and they figured those must be much better than the wool uniforms they were wearing. Next thing you know cotton shirts shaped like the letter T emerged into the battlefield.
Most would agree that the shirts were given the name t-shirt because of their shape, but even in this case there are other claims. Some claim they were referred to as "training shirts" as they were worn by training soldiers. Another crazy claim is that tee is short for "amputee" referring to the short sleeves. It's crazy how all of these claims kind of make sense but no one knows the definite truth. One thing's for sure; for a while t-shirts were worn as undershirts and for the specific purpose of staying cool.

The psychology of color is one that is concerned with the effects of hues on emotions, moods, and performance. Color is pervasive in the world, effective on the impressionable, and helps drive the emotion of man. Color is so profound, that it instantly drives our daily decisions within milliseconds. Why does a pale green calm the viewer while a shocking emerald jolts him? Why is cherry red associated with shameless sex appeal while burgundy is affiliated with timeless sophistication?

How about seeing people wear your company logo on their backs? By giving away promotional T shirts, you are actually getting the best use from promotional items- advertising that goes beyond a week or two. Most companies stock up their advertising tools with objects that do not give as much exposure as promotional t-shirts do. And while the use of promo shirts seem to be the oldest trick in the book, companies still use and love them for they work, and they work pretty well.

A must have for any screen printer or graphic designer.
What is the big deal about t-shirts? Who's wearing them and what kind of t-shirts are they wearing? You might be surprised just how many people are wearing them.

I am sitting in the food court of a very busy shopping mall on a Saturday with a pad of paper. What am I doing? Counting how many people are wearing t-shirts, what kind of t-shirt they're wearing, and about how old they are. This is my 4th Saturday conducting this survey at 4 different malls.
